Alamo Square in San Francisco is one of the city's most beautiful parks, and home to one of the most photographed sites. Located at Steiner and Hayes, the row of Victorian houses is called The Painted Ladies. It's a row of ascending Victorian Houses, with a backdrop of San Francisco skyscrapers. It's a familiar sight to fans of the 80s kids' show Full House, which featured The Painted Ladies in the opening credits.

Alamo Square is a district and a park in San Francisco Western Addition. The park encompasses 6 city blocks at the top of a hill, affording a great view of San Francisco's downtown area. The eastern half of the park is reserved for the children's playground, tennis courts, and the western half is for off-the-leash dog play. It is bounded by a number of distinctive, gorgeous mansions. The demographic of Alamo Square is typical to that of an area undergoing gentrification; young people, middle class homeowners, and a diverse group of elderly inhabitants. Alamo Square is well-connected to MUNI, with the 5, 21, 22, and 24 running through the area. Alamo Square is also fairly close to San Francisco's famed Haight St.

Alamo Square is a beautiful neighborhood with a great atmosphere. Home to a number of small businesses and restaurants, it has a great intimate feel, and an individuality that's hard to find anywhere else. Rife with intimate, high quality restaurants like the Alamo Square Seafood Grill, Fresca, and Zazie, Alamo Square is a great place to spend a day and get some great food. Also, a number of boutiques and second hand stores offer a unique buying experience. From Shoe-Biz for shoes to Villains and Daljeets for unusual clothing, Alamo Square has a lot to offer to the shopper who wants to leave the mainstream.

The view from Alamo Square is gorgeous all day and night. Allowing the visitor a view of Downtown San Francisco, and the Financial District. Alamo Square is central to San Francisco's network of neighborhoods, each with their own personality. Located close to Pacific Heights, Divisadero, Western Addition and Presidio Heights, Alamo Square offers different views of San Francisco. It's also in a great location for transportation. It's easy to get to Haight Street, Castro, and North Beach. Any tourist can go from Alamo Square to another popular tourist destination with ease. It's just a matter of a short bus, taxi, or car ride. Alamo Square is perfectly located to popular attractions in Downtown, Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, Haight Street, and others. The farthest attraction will be the San Francisco Zoo, but the L train runs just a few blocks away.

Alamo Square is an underappreciated piece of San Francisco. Not many tourists know about it, so its beautiful setting and exciting atmosphere aren't as famous as North Beach or Castro. Home to great restaurants, boutiques, and close to the more renowned sights, Alamo Square is a great place to stop while in San Francisco. It's intimate feel, great view, and good weather all make it a great place to live or just visit. Alamo Square Park is a beautiful place to enjoy the outdoors, and meet interesting people. It's a popular location for dog owners, being one of the few parks that doesn't require dogs to be on leashes. If you bring your dog on vacation, Alamo Square Park and Golden Gate Park are ideal places for you to allow your dog to run around, as long as it's a well-behaved animal. Because so many people frequent those spots, including children, it is a good idea to bring a leash with you, just in case your dog doesn't get along with others. Most dog walkers and dog owner in the parks are very friendly, and Alamo Square Park is no exception.
