History: Las Vegas is the largest city in Nevada. However, it’s the Municipality of Carson City the capital of the State of Nevada and not Las Vegas.

Las Vegas in Spanish means “the meadows” or “ the fields”. Las Vegas was a vital location thanks to its springs used by the native Americans known as the Marmons, then by the Spaniards , the Mexicans and then the American Army.

Las Vegas area was also an important stop located on the trail between Texas and California where wagon trains and later railroads where laid out throughout Las Vegas.

After the Native Marmons were forced to move out of Las Vegas area, the U.S. Army built a military base there in 1864.

In 1905 Las Vegas was established and became a city in 1911. It was only in 1931 when gambling was legalized in Las Vegas . The new casinos era started bringing business and developers who began building giant hotels-Casinos in the middle of the parched desert, known as Las Vegas today.

"The New Entertainment Capital of the World." Was born in the middle of a parched desert in State of Nevada. In less than fifteen years , huge and extravagant casinos-Hotels emerged from the ground. Travelers, tourists, artists started making Las Vegas their most popular destinations.

Gambling is indeed the biggest Las Vegas attraction. Hotels-Casinos and gambling facilities are the main attractions in Las Vegas. However, many travelers who visit Las Vegas don’t gamble. The Strip in Las Vegas is the portion of Las Vegas Boulevard known as "The Strip" that divides the city into two main parts around the strip
