Hearst Castle Tour Details:8: AM: Today, our tour guide will pick you up at 8 am at your hotel in San Francisco Bay Area, and drive you on highway 101 heading south to San Simeon to visit the majestic Hearst Castle. This trip will last four hours each way. You will drive through the famous Silicon Valley, Gilroy; the capital of garlic, Salinas Valley considered as the birthplace of John Steinbeck and Paso Robles, famous for its wine country.

An optional stop may also take place in Gilroy to taste garlic ice-cream or garlic wine. Gilroy is also famous for its outlet and shopping boutiques. Please refer to the below detailed tour itinerary for more information regarding this exciting trip to Hearst Castle.
12 PM: Lunch Break will take place in Cambria or in San Simeon, located south of Big Sur on California scenic highway 1. There are great restaurants with exotic gardens and landscapes where you can enjoy your lunch overlooking the Pacific Ocean's rugged coastline. While you enjoy your indoor or outdoor lunch, capture the scenic coastline views and wonders where you may see some sea otters, seals or even whales swimming by.
Lunch may also take place at Hearst Castle Restaurant or by San Simeon's old ranch where wine tasting is available offering spectacular views over the Ocean and Hearst Castle.
After lunch, your tour guide will drive you on California's spectacular scenic highway 1 to Piedras Blancas; a wonderful vista point offering you a unique opportunity to picture an army of Giant Sea Elephants lying on the beach. These Elephant seals come ashore and form colonies for only few months every year to give birth, breed, and molt. The rest of the year the colonies disperse individually and spend most of their time in pursuit of food, a quest that involves swimming thousands of miles and diving to great depths.
Bring your camera and picture some 3000 pound Elephant Seals playing, flipping sand on their backs and fighting other males to protect their territory and dominate their group. Friendly volunteers have emerged to guard the seals from obstreperous humans, and to educate the curious tourists about their history and behavior. Humpback and Blue whales may swim by Big Sur coastline along California scenic highway one, on the way to Baja California or on the way back to Alaska.
