Discover majestic Hearst Castle on this one-day trip from San Francisco
(Price includes round-trip from San Francisco and Hearst Castle entrance tickets)
Discover majestic Hearst Castle in California, and visit one of the property’s four mansions: La Casa Grande, Casa del sol, Casa Del Monte, and La Casa del Mar. The castle is home to 165 rooms and 127 acres of lush gardens, beautiful terraces, amazing pools and walkways, all built to Hearst’s specifications to showcase his legendary art collection and eclectic architectural tastes.
Join us and explore Hearst’s personal collection of ancient art, sculptures, furniture, and relics, a collection that still rivals museums today, and used almost every square inch of the hilltop estate to showcase it.
Your guide will check you in and redeem your tour voucher at the castle visitor center and then a shuttle will take you up to the castle where a state park guide will begin your 45-minute guided tour. Complimentary tickets to a 40-minute screening of the “Building the Dream” IMAX movie about the construction of the castle, is included in the tour price.
Golden Horizon Travel is the only tour company that offers this new and exclusive tour to Hearst Castle from San Francisco. This is a 12-hour round-trip that takes you on California highway 101 through Silicon Valley, Salinas, Greenfield, San Miguel, and Paso Robles wine country, rather than on the longer route traveling along scenic California State Route 1. You will spend 2-3 hours on the Hearst Castle property (a one-hour fully guided tour inside the castle, a 40-minute round trip ride from the visitor center to the castle, and a 40-minute IMAX film screening to learn about the construction of this masterpiece). The ride up to the castle from the visitor center will follow a scenic drive until you reach ‘The Enchanted Hill.’ This winding road offers dramatic views of San Simeon and the Pacific Ocean and countless photo opportunities. Your guide will greet you for your 1-hour guided walking tour among the following options (let us know ahead of time so we may book the correct tour for you):
- Grand Rooms Tour (recommended by Hearst Castle staff for first-time visitors)
- Upstairs Suites Tour (involves more walking upstairs and downstairs with no access to elevators)
- Cottages and Kitchen Tour
- Designing the Dream
- Evening Tours (available only on the 2-day tour package)
The 1-day tour price includes tax, a full-day private guided tour in an SUV, entrance fees to Hearst Castle and the IMAX movie theater at the visitor center.
We recommend adding an additional 2-hours to your tour (at a rate of $89/hour instead of our usual $139/hour), so you can schedule a second tour to see more than one wing of the castle.
